NY & other fun

Here are a couple of pictures from our trip to NY.  We had a great time there.  Mom, Evan and I were able to take a couple of great drives.  We were out by the lake and just happened to see this guy, in this bugeye at the road side stand.  Mom ended up knowing him.  And Evan wanted to be him :)
Always great to see you Grandma!  Sorry these pictures are pretty blurry.

Peter was such a great little helper with Leah.  He read her books and was always there to put her pacifier back in.
UK Car Day will always be a great memory.  I met George Haynes for the first time.  What a great guy.

Leah, ready to head back to Utah.
Taughannock Falls for the afternoon.  Evan and I were obsessed with this family out on the water.  They parked their boat for the day and would kayak into shore to use the bathroom or whatever.  They had these blow up lounge chairs they were using in the water.  You fall in love with it all over again every time you go back.
Out at Sodus Point.  People and their boats out in the shallowest water.  Just relaxing and hanging out. Evan and I were so jealous. And mad at our lives.  Haha...not really.

The kids love fruit and there are plums trees all around us.  We walked through an alfalfa, barley and corn field to get to these perfectly ripe plums.  Katy was in heaven!
That's a quart size bag.  We filled up a grocery store bag.
And we made these little buddies the other day.  They are so fun!  Look how colorful!

Kindergarten & Preschool

Jack started Kindergarten in late August.  He will be 6 this year.  I can't believe how quickly the time passes.  His teacher is Mrs. Hyer.  He has a little friend that he plays with at recess and they sit together on the bus.  They like the chat about what grows in their gardens.

 Can you find Jack?

Kaitlyn started Preschool at the beginning of September.  She was so excited that she wanted  me take pictures of all of the kids for the first couple of weeks. Everyday on the log out by the car  :)  She has waited all year for it to be her turn.  She has watched Jack come home from Preschool with fun projects and activities and we are happy that it is now her turn.
She loves it so much and she loves to sing.  She comes home almost every time with a new song to sing to us.

This week they are talking about what makes them special and she sings a little song that goes like this "A frog in a bottle, a fish in the sea, a bird in a tree, I would rather just be ME ME ME!"

Demolition Derby

Some good friends of ours dropped by a couple of weeks ago with Demolition Derby tickets.  Their nephew and friend of ours, drives in the derby.  So we decided to go.  We called a babysitter last minute because they dropped by the day of the derby and we decided to take Jack along.  We thought he would enjoy it.  He was a little confused at first.  Wondering why  these cars are hitting each other and everyone is clapping when I tell the kids everyday to put on their seat belts and ramble off something about not getting into an accident.  So Jason and I went over how the derby worked and how the drivers were pretty safe inside the cars and once he understood it, he loved it!  He stood up on the bleachers, with both arms up in the air shouting!  It was a blast.  Definitely something we would do every summer.

It's just hilarious.  The whole thing.

And some other stuff going on.
Katy had her last dance class of the summer.  Julia started to tag along and she really enjoyed it.  I think the dance class ended up being more like a jump on the large bean bag, color on the dry erase board, free babysitting for an hour a week kind of class but whatever.  It was fun for them.
And I have been teaching Leah how to drink from the carton.  She does pretty well.
And she loves it.

I was trying to upload the videos from the Demolition Derby and was having some trouble.  So I tried uploading random old videos and they worked for some reason.  So here are two  old ones that make us laugh.

That's Julia trying Strawberries for the first time.  And Jack trying to catch the chicken for me. We later gave both of them to a friend.  We will never have chickens again.  :)
